More Than Boarding. A Passion for Dogs, A Life of Service.
At Paws to Zen, dogs aren’t just guests — they’re family. What sets us apart isn’t just our peaceful countryside setting or our spacious yard and private beach access. It’s the depth of experience, care, and purpose behind everything we do.
With over 20 years of hands-on experience working with dogs in multiple capacities — as a veterinary technician, kennel manager, and lifelong animal advocate — we understand what dogs need not only to stay safe, but to feel secure, balanced, and happy.
Paws to Zen was created out of a deep calling to serve — not just animals, but the people who love them. That commitment runs through every part of our work, built on a foundation of real-world experience and genuine compassion.
Meet the Heart Behind Paws to Zen
Before launching Paws to Zen, I dedicated my life to service in other forms — working as a firefighter and paramedic, responding to emergency calls and supporting people in their most vulnerable moments. I carry that same calm, steady presence into the way I care for dogs today — with attentiveness, empathy, and professionalism you can rely on.
I also spent nearly a decade at a humane society, beginning as a volunteer and eventually serving as a kennel manager and cruelty investigator. That journey gave me a deep understanding of both the challenges dogs face and the healing power of safe, structured care. It taught me how to meet animals where they are — with patience, respect, and a commitment to their well-being.
In addition, I worked as a veterinary technician, assisting in the day-to-day operations of a busy vet clinic, including wellness care and routine procedures. These combined experiences mean I know what works, what doesn’t, and how to create a space that feels like a second home — not a warehouse.
Our Property: Freedom to Explore, Space to Breathe
Nestled on 30 beautiful acres of private land, our space is a dream for any dog who loves the outdoors. The fully fenced 1.5-acre yard is secure and expansive, offering endless room to romp, run, and roll in the grass.
For dogs who enjoy water, we also offer private access to a serene local pond with a dog-friendly beach — perfect for safe, supervised swims, splash sessions, or just cooling off on warm days.
This isn’t just a place to stay — it’s a retreat where dogs can truly relax, be active on their terms, and enjoy nature in a way that restores their spirit.
